jack ker-o-rat on the loose

the bible of funk
can’t be found in
anything called “spunk”
or up an
elephant’s trunk
Don’t listen,
rolling stone is bunk,
the “lusitanian”
got sunk by
nixonian lies
and bootsy
collin’s bump.

it’s 98 in the shade
& americans line up
cnn waves the red, white
& blue, hot dogs are served
a good book burning
starts to warm up
the venerable masses
no, there aren’t any poor,
this is america,
not a mingling of the classes
country musicians sing anthems,
the ass kicking begins.

fox carries execution
of SLAM poets live
americans eat their beef
& tune in
the revolt starts when
each poet reads his/hers
three minute statement.
“what do you mean,
the funk ends here?’
questions america’s youth
rioting starts as bootsy
funks out the star spangled banner.

in the new america we wait,
we hesitate but what the...
jack ker-o-rat leads parade
yes, it is a new day, tuesday,
to be exact,
the fact, is
voting’s unnecessary
& napster’s free once more
the beats and the barrio =
a deeper meaning for
pulitzers &
dead irish poets.

jack just smiles that
toothy grin
gets the yen, then the yang
hijacks plane &
flies to orient,
pirated videos of
kill bill sell two for one,
just like an election
jack sighs, take a toke
cut the yoke,
never forget; friends don’t let
friends vote.
